Visiting Faculty, Bren School of Environmental Science & Management
Allison Horst is a Bren School alumna who earned all three of her degrees (BS Chemical Engineering (2005), MS Mechanical Engineering (2007), and PhD Environmental Science and Management (2012) at UCSB. Since completing her doctoral work with advisor Dr. Patricia Holden, which focused on the toxicity and effects of engineering nanomaterials on bacterial growth and membrane processes, Horst has continued to teach the Bren Math Bootcamp to incoming first-year master’s students (2007 – present) and recently began teaching both ESM 206AB (Statistics and Data Analysis in Environmental Science & Management) and ESM 244 (Advanced Data Analysis) at the Bren School. In her spare time, Allison paints, hikes near her cabin in Los Padres National Forest, searches for fossils, and hangs out with her best friend, Mattie Dog.
