Hugo Salgado applies an empirical perspective in studying the economics of fisheries management and the use of economic incentives for environmental regulation. Professor Salgado has been collaborating with the Sustainable Fisheries Group at the Bren School since 2010, working with Bren professor Christopher Costello and Bren School dean, Steve Gaines, in research related to the use of marine protected areas to manage transboundary fisheries in Latin America. He has also taught a class and advised master’s and PhD students at the Bren School.
