CLIMATE CHANGE: VIEWS FROM THE HUMANITIES

A NEARLY CARBON-NEUTRAL CONFERENCE

Tips for speakers for recording your talk.

How to make a video of yourself delivering a talk like the one shown here. Includes tips for making the talk more accessible for deaf or hard of hearing individuals. Note that this talk was recorded using a standard computer, a Logitech C615 webcam on a Ravelli APLT2 Tripod, and the QuickTime software preinstalled on all Apple computers. No other special equipment was used.

How to make a screen recording of a Prezi or PowerPoint  presentation (or movie clips, live shots of a website, etc). Includes tips for making the talk more accessible for blind or visually impaired individuals. This talk was recorded using a standard computer and Apple’s QuickTime software using the “screen record” feature. Similar programs are preinstalled on most computers.

The program introduced here, ScreenFlow, can produce a video that merges the webcam video of the speaker with the screen recording of a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation. Please note that there are many such programs available, some of which are free of charge (ScreenFlow is not), and that we are in no way endorsing this particular product. Nonetheless, this video should give you some idea of what is possible.
